Zaheer Khan to miss Champions Trophy
India left arm pacer Zaheer Khan is likely to miss the Champions Trophy as he had undergone a surgery on his left shoulder in South Africa three weeks ago. He is also doubtful for the tri series in Sri Lanka, which is scheduled to begin from next month.
Zaheer has just 10 days to recover from the injury as the Board of Control for Cricket (BCCI) will announce the Indian squad for the Champions Trophy on 16th August. Zaheer received shoulder injury while playing for Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL-II) in South Africa earlier this year.
The Champions Trophy will be played from 22nd September to 5th October while the tri series between India, Sri Lanka and New Zealand will kick off from 8th September. Due to injury, he also missed the ICC World T20 Cup in England and four ODI matches series in the West Indies.
A source reported that Zaheer had undergone a month-long rehabilitation under the guidance of Dr. Mark Ferguson and later he was recommended to undergo a surgery to permanently heal the injury.
