Ziganda new coach of low budget debutants Xerex

Ziganda new coach of low budget debutants XerexMadrid  - Newly-promoted Spanish Liga club Xerex Thursday presented Jose Angel Ziganda as their new coach on a one-year contract.

Xerex are the last Liga club to sign up a coach for next season, which will be their first ever year in the top flight.

They have one of the lowest budgets in La Liga and are expected to be in a relegation battle right from the start.

"I know that it will be difficult to keep Xerex in La Liga but I am looking forward to the challenge," Ziganda said.

Ziganda was sacked by Osasuna - whom he guided to the semi-finals of the UEFA Cup in 2007 - in the middle of last season. At Xerex he takes over from Esteban Vigo, who left after gaining promotion from the second division.

Xerex are close to clinching the loan of Brazilian goalkeeper Renan from Valencia for one season.  (dpa)
