UP agriculture varsity VC quits

V.K. Suri, Vice-Chancellor of Chandrashekhar Azad Agriculture University, who last month shut the campus doors on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, tendered his resignation on Tuesday.

"Vice-chancellor Suri's resignation has been accepted by the governor in his capacity as chancellor," a Raj Bhawan official confirmed.

The VC was asked to submit an explanation to the Governor in this context. Suri had cancelled an interaction programme of Rahul Gandhi with students in his university campus in Kanpur. But it is alleged that certain senior elements of Mayawati government had asked Dr. Suri not to allow Rahul to hold an interaction programme.
