Austrian arrested over drugs in Australia
Sydney - Australian police charged an Austrian with drug offences Friday after she allegedly attempted to smuggle methamphetamines through Melbourne airport.
Police alleged chocolate bars she carried off a flight from Bangkok concealed methamphetamines. A further search found the 31-year-old had a plastic bag containing a white crystalline substance in her possession.
She was charged with possessing and importing a commercial quantity of a border-controlled drug. The maximum penalty for the offences is life imprisonment.
When the case comes to court in June, it will be alleged she was in possession of 1.7 kilograms of methamphetamines. (dpa)
