Bad Luck Govind: Movie Review!
The movie ‘Bad Luck Govind’ is really a ‘bad luck’ for its director, Varun Khanna.
Bad Luck Govind, which has an entertaining premise and the potency to end up as laugh riot, fails to impress the audience.
The film starring Gaurav Kapoor, Parmeet Sethi, Hrishita Bhatt is not going to help anyone, not even VJ Gaurav Kapoor who plays Govind, did a brilliant job.
Govind, an odd job man in a TV news channel, is forced to transfer to Mumbai when he goofs up at his place of work. But Mumbai means a new nonstop string of bad lucks for our unlucky fellow who turns a pawn in underworld strife.
Well Govind is supported by others and what worries the most is the plot running off goal after intermission.
What is well-based is that Govind has ill fortune, which means that even if his reflection falls on some other person, he/she is in for trouble. What is not well-setup is how some of them he comes in contact with are not affected.
Also, the so-called gang competition among Kapoor (Parmit Sethi) and Pandey (Lalit Mohan Tiwary) is not drawn clearly. There could have been a sepia-toned flashback to set up their stated facts to the plot but no, instead the director wastes time with a card game in end, which drops back the movie, despite it clocks just 120 minutes.
To come back to the story, a condition in the News Channel where Govind works in New Delhi, results in the anchor going 'live' on national TV about her mother-in-law. Govind decides to come to Mumbai. En route, he is robbed of his bag and finishes at a hospital to donate sperms to make quick earnings.
There he meets Vishal (Amit Mistry) who gives him shelter in his chawl. Govind tells his story to Amit and he is overheard by one of Kapoor’s cronies. They use him to bring the other gang down.
It's good luck for Parmit Sethi who stands out in his character. Amit Mistry also impresses. A good talent, Hrishitaa Bhatt's role may not have had meat, but the actor delivers what is asked of her to essay some semblance of sanity in the hospital ward.
