BMC terms remain unfulfilled by Seven Hills

BMC terms remain unfulfilled by Seven HillsIn a meeting by the standing committee for three days since President Pratibha Patil instated the Seven Hills Hospital in Andheri East, and the corporators lift lying under the subject of discontented terms of agreement between Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and the hospital.

As the hospital is being advertized as Asia's largest private hospital but in fact it is a public private partnership (PPP) project and also the land of the hospital belongs to BMC.

BMC have offered six terms in the initial stages of partnership out of which three terms remain unfulfilled till date, when hospital has already started functioning in its first phase.

BMC terms that have still not been agreed upon are ; medicines will be priced as per the rates specified by BMC hospitals, reserving 20 per cent of beds in ICU for BMC; and that the Board of Directors of the hospital should have two representatives from BMC - one corporator and one official.

On the other hand, the terms on which hospital has shown its consent are reserving 20 per cent of beds for BMC in every phase of commissioning of beds, appointing an officer on special duty (OSD) and allowing supervision of BMC patients and those patients who will be referred by civic hospitals will be billed at BMC hospital rates, told by civic officials.

Till now, BMC and hospital has not signed any appropriate Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). It was only in 2005 when the last document was signed surrendering the land on lease to the hospital. BMC officials have been asked by the standing committee regarding all these terms and committee members have decided to raise this issue for discussion in the House later this week.
