BIGFlix.com inks pact with BookMyShow.comReliance Big Entertainment arm BIGFlix.com, India's largest Video on Demand and DVD Rental service, has entered into partnership with BookMyShow.com, India’s premier Entertainment ticketing website, to offer movie rental services at your doorstep. 

Under the arrangement, all bookmyshow.com users will offer a free BIGFlix.com membership, which will be valid for a period 14 days. The customer will be able to rent and watch unlimited movies of his choice from a catalogue of around 20,000 BIGFlix.com titles through the entire period of 14 days.

Balaji Telefilms in legal muddle over KSBKBT

Balaji Telefilms has received a notice for termination of sourcing content and telecasting of one of its highly popular weekly serials – ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’ (KSBKBT) – being aired on Star Plus. The notice comes from SGL Entertainment, a part of the Star Group.

Along with KSBKBT, Balaji is producing five other currently running programs for the Star Group. In addition, the company produces two programs for 9X, one for Zee TV, and is also producing two programs for NDTV Imagine, which will be launched in this quarter.

SGL opines that the termination of the highly rated serial is in breach of contractual obligations owed by the Star Group to the company. It added that it will pursue all legal remedies available to it regarding the issue.

Fox Star Studios, a joint venture between Twentieth Century Fox and Star, has entered into a multiple-film deal with Indian producer Vipul Amrutlal Shah, whose latest film 'Singh is Kinng' became the top-grosser Indian film of all times.

Under the agreement, the VFX (visual effects) films will be supported by a team of top visual effects directors from Hollywood and supervised by Fox’s multiple award-winning in-house visual effects team.

Further, the pact includes development and production of a visual effects-driven fantasy action movie, a romantic comedy and a first look deal on Shah's future projects.

Star India, CJ Home to launch a new ‘Home Shopping Channel’ in the Country

Television broadcaster Star India Pvt. Ltd and South Korea’s CJ Home Shopping Ltd have formed a joint venture company, christened Star CJ Network India to launch 24/7 home shopping television channel in the country.

Under the arrangement, Star India will run the proposed channel while CJ Home Shopping will provide the backend support such as providing a host of products, tie-ups with local brands among others.

Both partners are expected to invest in around $2 million (about Rs 9 crore) towards uplinking and downlinking of the proposed channel.

Raj Television has no short term plans to enter into print media business

Raj Television Network has clarified that at present the company does not have any proposal to foray into print media business. However, the company may look at the proposal in the long-term.

According to the company, this is the long term objective, but at present, the company doesn't have any proposal in hand.

But in near future, if the fund are required, then the company may to dilute 5-10% of equity to private equity players to meet the future fund requirements, depending on the market conditions.

Earlier, a financial daily had reported that Raj Television was planning to foray into print media, and was open to acquiring a Tamil newspaper.

Indian Government flags green signal to guidelines of IPTV Services

IPTVThe Indian government has finally approved new guidelines for the provision of IPTV services, which will allow broadcasters to provide content to IPTV service providers across the country.

Apart from this, the cabinet also approved an amendment to policy guidelines for the down-linking of television channels, which will allow IPTV operators to demand that broadcasters provide them with content at par with cable and satellite TV operators.
