Increased costs force GECs to blackout fresh programming

Star India CEO Uday ShankarDisplaying their solidarity, Hindi general entertainment channels (GECs) have announced a blackout of fresh programming, due to their inability to cope up with the increased costs.

The viewers will have to watch re-runs of their favorite soaps and shows on television as, facing the first day of 'zero fresh content' on their channels, broadcasters have sent strong signals to the TV content producers and workers that they would not absorb any rate hike at a time when the global economy is on a tailspin.

MySpace MP3 Player Plausible, CEO DeWolf Suggests During the Web 2.0 conference held in San Francisco this week, MySpace CEO Chris DeWolfe suggested that Social networking site MySpace might be working on its very own MP3 player. DeWolfe, who admitted that a MP3 could soon be released, held talks with Warner Music Group CEO Edgar Bronfman Jr.

The possibility of working on Mp3 player was not directly specified by DeWolfe, but it was neither denied.

DeWolfe said, "For now, we are much more focused on the service. But, if anything, we'll be accretive to iPod sales, unless we develop a device."

Midvalley files DRHP with SEBI to enter capital market

SEBIChennai based Midvalley Entertainment, has filed a draft red herring prospectus (DRHP) with SEBI, to enter into the capital market with a public issue of 1.71 crore equity shares of Rs 10 each for cash at a price to be decided through a 100% book-building process.

The issue also comprises a reservation of 3 lakh equity shares for permanent employees, thus bringing the net issue to 1.68 crore equity shares of Rs 10 each. The net issue will constitute 39.30% of the fully diluted post issue paid-up capital of the company.
