Airtel launches IPTV facility in the country By launching Internet Protocol Television (IPTV), Bharti Airtel has become the first private player to offer the service in the country.

The company will now offer triple play service - telephony, broadband and television over a single line to customers in the NCR and will be followed by eight leading metros. The service will also offer features such as real-time interactivity, where customers can order pizzas and book movie tickets on their TV, record programmes for seven days, rewind, forward, and Movie on Demand (MOD).

Reliance Big Pictures will relaese 18 films in 2009 Reliance Big Pictures is gearing up to release 18 movies for 2009 release. Out of these, 11 films will be released in Hindi while the other seven films will be in five regional languages. Big Pictures in association with Excel entertainment will release Luck By Chance, the directorial debut of Zoya Akhtar on 30 January. The movie stars are Farhan Akhtar, Juhi Chawla, Konkana Sen Sharma, Rishi Kapoor, Dimple Kapadia and Hrithik Roshan in a special appearance.  

Blockbuster goes on-demand with new set-top box

2WireTwo weeks before, when 2Wire introduced its MediaPoint set-top box, it was reported that “It'll be a matter of weeks--if not days--before you see a yet-to-be-named service provider offering its own version of the MediaPoint, possibly at a sub-$100 price point.”

However, since that initial provider turns out to be Blockbuster Video, the curtain has been pulled back. The company’s version of the MediaPoint box is being offered for just $99, which includes a credit for 25 movies, for a limited period of time.
