Carly Fiorina focuses on reducing government spending

Carly Fiorina, a former business executive and a politician was born in Austin, Texas. She worked as chief executive officer of Hewlett-Packard from 1999 to 2005. During her tenure at Lucent and Hewlett-Packard, she was considered one of the most powerful women in business.

She has experience as an advisor to Republican John McCain's 2008 presidential campaign. Fiorina always talked about her business-oriented background. She claims the country requires a non-political leader with statements like, "It's interesting, people out there are not at all troubled that I haven't held elected office; in fact, the people I run into consider it a great asset".

Fiorina is actively considering running for President of the United States in 2016. Fiorina was the Republican nominee for the United States Senate from California in 2010, losing to incumbent Democratic Senator Barbara Boxer.

She does not have a strong voting record to put light on her positions because of her background. Fiorina has not spoken out widely about student loan debt but she has talked about it at times, involving in a recent speech in Iowa. In that speech she talked that the student loan industry must be simplified.

In her senate campaign and in many of her recent statements, she has talked about the economy. Fiorina is worried about the federal government's debt and advocates fiscally conservative policies. She preferred cuts in government spending and she said that she is not interested in cutting any federal agencies.

She is not interested to abolish the US Department of Education, which could be reassuring for individuals with federal student loans. As per Politico, 12 other Republicans are there presently polling ahead of Fiorina.
