CBI probe must be done into RTI activist murder case: Digvijay Singh

CBI probe must be done into RTI activist murder case: Digvijay SinghNew Delhi, Sep 2: Congress General Secretary and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijay Singh on Friday said a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe must be done into RTI activist Shehla Masood''s murder case.

"I would only said the CBI must investigate this case. It would be in interests of all," Singh told mediapersons here, when asked that the Madhya Pradesh Government has already a sent a letter to the Centre requesting for a CBI probe into the case.

Digvijay Singh had on Thursday said that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Rajya Sabha MP Tarun Vijay must demand CBI inquiry into the murder case on his own.

"This is really a fatal incident. We have asked for CBI probe. Tarun Vijay should demand CBI enquiry on his own in the case," Singh had said.

Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh Police is all set to quiz Tarun Vijay in connection with the murder case.

Tarun Vijay, however, earlier on Thursday refuted all charges about being involved in the murder case, and said that he was working vigorously to ensure that Shehla got justice.

"Shehla Masood was a brave RTI activist. She was the convener and campaigner for India Against Corruption in Madhya Pradesh. We are at shock after hearing about her murder. We want justice for Shehla. Her family is passing through a very bad time. I hope the whole thing is not politicized," said Vijay.

"We stand by the family of Shehla, and every right thinking Indian will stand by them. Whatever information we have, we will provide to all the investigating agencies. We are much more concerned to get justice for Shehla. We are working vigorously to see that Shehla is provided justice," he added.

Masood had spoken to Vijay for 45 minutes on the day of her murder and the night before murder.

Masood was shot dead by an unidentified assailant outside her house in Bhopal''s posh Koh-e-Fiza locality on August 16 as she was on her way to join an Anna Hazare related rally. (ANI)
