Cholera Scares Parts Of ‘Silicon Valley Of India’
Bangalore: After gastroenteritis fear, the city is now in the grip of cholera scare.
81 fresh gastroenteritis cases have been reportedly found in the Bharathinagar area on Friday, and what is more worsening, two of the six persons suffering from gastroenteritis tested positive for cholera.
Those tested positive for cholera have been admitted to St. Philomena’s Hospital. The Epidemic Diseases (ED) Hospital treated 24 persons — 17 as inpatients — for gastroenteritis on Friday.
Although no new case of cholera was detected in ED Hospital since last three says, results of over 80 stool samples sent for laboratory tests are awaited.
Once again, BBMP is clueless, although the patients are from its limits — Neelasandra, Dooravaninagar, Jeevanhalli (Cox Town) and EWS quarters.
According to the BBMP, 1,502 persons (896 adults and 606 children) have been treated for gastroenteritis at its hospital on Thimmaiah Road since January 28.
