Climate change could lead to 200 million refugees

Climate change could lead to 200 million refugees Bonn, Germany  - United Nations institutions, researchers and international aid organizations are warning that predictions show a rapidly rising number of climate-change refugees.

By the year 2050, around 200 million people could be uprooted and on the run, the organizations reported at the UN climate conference in Bonn. That's about 2.5 times the population of Germany.

At the conference the climate coordinator for the UN aid organization CARE, Charles Ehrhart, said climate change already has an ever-increasing influence on people's decision to leave their homes. (dpa)
