Dada To Be Felicitated With Gloden Bat Dada aka the Cricket legend Sourav Ganguly is all set to receive a one-kilogram gold bat at a Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) felicitation programme on Sunday. The cost of the bat is expected to be around Rs 25 lakh. The gold bat has Ganguly's cricketing records embossed on it.

Speaking on this, Jagmohan Dalmiya, CAB President said, “It will be a totally cricket-centric function. So, there will be no cultural programmes.”

A15 minutes film which will portray Ganguly's life from a child till his retirement as a cricketer would also be shown in the programme.

Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee has been invited as the guest of honour at the function.

Dalmiya further revealed that the office bearers of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), president and secretaries of all BCCI-affiliated units of the East Zone have also been invited on this occasion.

The programme, scheduled to start around 6 pm, will also throw a panel discussion on the former Indian skipper. Popular commenter Arun Lal will moderate the panel discussion.

Apart from this, family members of the former great Indian skipper have also been invited on this event.

It may be here recalled that Sourav Chandidas Ganguly announced his retirement from the Indian cricket last year. The left handed batsman started his test career on June 20th 1996 and played his last test it in November 2008. A full these 12 years saw Ganguly’s cricketing career complete a circle. A left handed batsman, Ganguly’s first test innings declared his arrival in a vigorous style. The batsman scored a ton in his very first test match at Lords.
