Ex-NY Gov. says he spent the past year in the doghouse

Ex-NY Gov. says he spent the past year in the doghouseNew York, Mar. 20 : Disgraced former Governor Eliot Spitzer has claimed that he has spent the last year rebuilding his relationship with his family, and still feels the error of his wandering ways.

Spitzer, who resigned a year ago after being outed as a patron of a high-priced prostitution ring, told CNN, "I failed in a very important way in my personal life, and I have paid a price for that.

"I have spent a year with my family - with my wonderful and amazing and forgiving wife and three daughters - and we''ll rebuild those relationships, and hope to do that as time goes on," the Daily News quoted him, as saying.

Spitzer expressed his views on the current AIG bonuses scandal - and was then asked why people should listen to him.

"I would say to them that I never held myself out as being anything other than human. I have flaws, as we all do, arguably," said Spitzer, who was known as a hard-charging state attorney general who went after major financial firms before he captured the governor''s office.

"I also feel if I''m asked, and I can contribute to a very important conversation, I will do that as well. I will do what I can - and with full awareness and heaviness of heart about what I did," Spitzer said. (ANI)
