Fire at M&M’ Nasik plant brought under control

Fire at M&M’ Nasik plant brought under controlA major fire that broke out at Mahindra & Mahindra's (M&M's) manufacturing facility at Nashik has now been brought under control.

"The fire has been confined to this specific area. There has been no casualty. As a safety measure, the operations of the Plant have been suspended in the first shift... The production loss in the first shift is estimated to be around 250 vehicles," the company said in a filing with the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).

Nachiket Kulkarni, Head of M&M's automobile plant said that the company does not know the reason behind the fire accident yet. The company said that the fire was brought under control within the logistics area of the Scorpio unit and did not spread outside the company's facility. M&M is now investigating the cause of the fire accident at the auto plant in Satpur MIDC early this morning.

Chief Fire Officer of the Nashik Municipal Corporation Anil Mahajan pointed out that no person was injured in the accident and around 25 fire tenders from both the city as well as the company were called to put the fire under control.

The company asserted that it follows the "strictest safety protocols and adheres to all safety norms and processes" laid down by the relevant government authorities.
