Former McEnroe doubles partner praises Murray

London - A former doubles partner of John McEnroe has compared Brit Andy Murray to the American former bad boy of the game.

"Andy Murray is the closest thing in tennis I see to John McEnroe," said American Peter Fleming, who won four Wimbledon doubles titles alongside McEnroe, 49.

"There are a lot of similarities between them in the way that they view the world. "Murray has a wonderful talent, he's able to change his game from one end of the spectrum to the other instantly,

"Very few players can do that."

Fleming, who will compete in the seniors Black Rock Masters in London from December 2-7, added: "I've been really impressed with (how much) Murray has matured and grown over the past year.

"It's helped him become a much better player."

Murray is currently 1-0 in play at the season-ending Masters Cup in Shanghai after beating Andy Roddick in group play on Monday. (dpa)
