 Gaddafi''s son brands Interpol allegations of corruption political Niger, Oct 3 : Fallen Libyan leader Colonel Muammar Gaddafi''s son al-Saadi has branded Interpol''s decision to put him on the most-wanted list as political.

In an email, al-Saadi called the Interpol notice a "clear political decision to recognize the de jure authority of the National Transitional Council taken without appropriate regard to the current absence of a functioning, effective and fair system of justice in Libya," Fox News reports.

It said al-Saadi "worked tirelessly to promote football in Libya, priding himself on the fact that Libya was formerly selected to host the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations," adding that Gaddafi''s son "continues to call on all sides to seek a negotiated and peaceful resolution to the present conflict."

He is currently under house arrest in Niger, where he fled along with several other regime loyalists after Tripoli fell to revolutionary forces.

The whereabouts of Gaddafi and two of his sons’ are not known, although there are speculations that they are hiding in Libya.

Interpol has also issued red notices for Gaddafi and his son Seif al-Islam upon request by the Hague-based International Criminal Court. Both men have been charged with crimes against humanity. (ANI)
