GE gives $50,000 to Floyd’s breast center as charityIn a major announcement made by Floyd Healthcare Foundation, it has got close to $50,000 as a donation from General Electric in Rome. It is to be mentioned here that the company has contributed this sum with a view to contribute to the fight against breast cancer.

The Foundation has said that the funds will be used to acquire additional world-class digital mammography capabilities which will be used at the Breast Center at Floyd. There is no denying the fact that the Breast Center has been bringing nationally recognized best practice protocols to the women of Northwest Georgia.

Moreover, it has also been actively involved in ensuring that the people receive quality breast health education, annual care, diagnosis, treatment and support in a comfortable and technologically advanced environment. It may be noted here that the breast center is planning to expand its capabilities in 2011 i. e. when it will relocate to the comprehensive cancer center being built on the Floyd Medical Center campus.

It has been found that with close to 46K women in the northwest Georgia region who fall in age bracket of 40 and over, close to 20,000 do not even schedule an annual mammogram or Clinical Breast Exam which is a big cause of concern currently.
