Malaysian teacher let off lightly for using racial slurs, MIC angry

Malaysian Indian Congress president Seri S. Samy VelluBanting (Malaysia), Aug 14: Malaysian Education Minister Hishammuddin Hussein has been urged to intervene in the case of the teacher who used racial slurs on students at a secondary school here.

Malaysian Indian Congress president S. Samy Vellu said that the party and the community could not accept that the 35-year-old teacher who was let off lightly.

It was reported that the teacher was transferred to a school nearer her house. The transfer letter stated that it was done to ensure her security.

IGNOU To Come Up With Online Courses

The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) is all set to launch various IGNOU To Come Up With Online Coursesonline courses from this week.

In a statement released on Sunday, the university said that it will extend its distance learning programmes.

Latha Pillai, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of IGNOU said that the university in collaboration with Sri Aurobindo Centre for Advanced Research (SACAR), Puducherry will launch Online Ph D, M Phil, M A, PG Diploma and PG Certificates courses from 15th of August.

A strong student-teacher relationship can play a key role in learning health and sex education. Students feel more comfortable with regular teachers and are able to joke around and laugh with the teachers, but also take them more seriously, find researchers from Ohio State University and the University of Kentucky.

Melbourne, July 30 : Computer games have always been considered a waste of time, but now schools in Australia are looking at ways to use them to help kids learn.

Helen Stuckey from Australian Centre for the Moving Image said that the fun kids derive from playing a game could be applied to learning.

A study on what makes gaming so much of fun revealed a phenomenon called ‘flow’ - a feedback loop between the level of challenge and the level of skill.

"Flow happens not when you''re relaxed but when you''re actively involved in something that''s quite difficult in a task that stretches you and challenges your ability," The Daily Telegraph quoted her, as saying.
