Ajantha Mendis seems to have built a really good impression on the Australian former coach John Buchanan, who feels that the player should be judged on long term basis.
On Tuesday, Buchanan reported in Mumbai, “Mendis reminds me a bit of Johnny Gleeson, though he releases the ball much quicker, is taller and stronger. He also has good change of pace.”
Buchanan is the chief coach of Kolkata Riders, an IPL franchise, and the Australian is in the country to carry out a two-day selection trial at Goregaon Sports Club for the same.

SA Cricket board on Friday announced that it would not send its team to Pakistan for the tournament next month. This has made South Africa the first country to officially boycott the tournament.

In a statement passed by Cricket SA President Norman Arendse, he said, “After extensive discussions and a frank exchange of views, the board resolved not to send our team at this time to Pakistan to take part in the ICC Champions Trophy.”
