Hattestad leads clean sweep for NorwayTrondheim, Norway - Ola Vigen Hattestad won the men's sprint over 1.6 kilometres in a Norwegian clean sweep of the podium places before home fans in Trondheim on Thursday.

Hattestad finished in 3 minutes 16.7 seconds, edging Petter Northug by 0.5 seconds and Johan Kristian Dahl by 0.7 seconds.

With six races remaining of the World Cup season, Dario Cologna of Switzerland continues to lead on 1,006 points ahead of Northug (952) and Ola Vigen Hattestad (760).

Petra Majdic of Slovenia won the 1.4km women's sprint in 3:09.1 in a dead-heat finish with Alena Prochazkova (Slovakia), with Poland's Justyna Kowalczyk third, 0.7 seconds behind.

Majdic leads overall on 1,462 points, ahead of Kowalczyk (1,351) and Aino-Kaisa Saarinen of Finland (1,321). (dpa)
