India dumps Nepal 21-0 in SAG

India has opened their medal tally in the 11th South Asian Games as Indian women’s cyclist team has won gold medal in the 30-km road team trial, while men’s hockey team has defeated Nepal by 21-0 at the Moulana Bhashani Stadium in Dhaka.

Ajitesh Roy slammed five goals for India in 15th, 58th, 59th, 66th and 68th minutes respectively, while Yuvraj Walmiki and Mohammed Aamir Khanscored scored three goals each. Pramod Kumar, V Raghunath and Hamza Mujtaba also shared two goals each.

Indian women’s cyclist team including Rameshwari Devi, Suchitra Devi, Mahidha Mohan and Rejani won the gold medal by clocking 44 minutes 22.15 seconds at Bangladesh Krida Shiksha Pratisthan (BKSP) in Khulna, while Pakistan and Sri Lanka won silver and bronze medal respectively.

Indian volleyball team also started their campaign with win over Sri Lanka by 3-1 at the Indian Shahid Soharwardy Indoor Stadium in Mirpur. India won the four setter match 25-23, 25-19 23-25 25-19.

Meanwhile, in the squash Sandip Jangra and Gaurav Nandrajog have assured at least a bronze medal for India by advancing into the semifinals. Sandip-Gaurav duo will meet Pakistan team in semifinal on Sunday.
