India moves up to third place in ODI rankings, Yuvraj in top-10

Yuvraj SinghIndia's two consecutive wins over England in the ODI series has shuffled the ICC's ODI rankings with the side moving up two places from fifth to third position. Moreover, Yuvraj Singh, with his back-to-back powerpacked knocks - his two centuries - has also been rewarded for his performance as he climbed to the sixth spot of the ICC player rankings for ODI batsmen, gaining as many as 11 places to enjoy the highest rating of his career to date!

The two comprehensive defeats cost England dearly as it slumped to the sixth spot, slipping from third. Having lost three ratings points, England are now just behind New Zealand by a fraction of a point.

In fact, the ODI Championship ladder is very closely packed, with five matches still remaining in the series. Though there is plenty of time for Kevin Pietersen and his men to make amends, if India can continue the way they are going, they can go second in the ladder by the end of the series.

At present, the Australia is still out in front; nearly 12 ratings points clear of South Africa, who is second in the ratings. Meanwhile, Pakistan is the other big mover this week as it has moved up two places to fourth following its 3-0 series win against the West Indies in Abu Dhabi.

So far as the batting rankings are concerned, India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is at the top of the table, followed by Australia's Michael Hussey in second place, and Graeme Smith of South Africa in third. Indian opener Gautam Gambhir has also progressed four spots and now sits in 22nd place among batsmen, just behind Pakistan's Younus Khan.
