India & Pak Should Play A Test Match In Mumbai: Akram

India & Pak Should Play A Test Match In Mumbai: AkramAccording to former Pakistan cricket skipper Wasim Akram, both India and Pakistan should play a test match in terrorist-hit Mumbai.

Speaking with the media persons, Akram said, “Cricket is not on anyone's mind at the moment, but after three to four days both the countries must take a positive step. I suggest Pakistan and India play a Test in Mumbai so to give a clear message that we will not give in.”

Following the recent terror attacks in Mumbai, media reports has indicated that government of India has denied its cricket team to tour Pakistan early next year.

The former left hander bowler said that India is like a second home for him and described the Mumbai terror attacks as "very unfortunate". He said that the attacks have shocked not just the Mumbai city and the country but the entire world.

Akram said that if the terror attacks hits our relations and cricket then it would mean that we have given in to terrorists.

Despite threats from Hindu fundamentalists, Akram captained Pakistan on a tour of India in 1999, playing the first cricket series between the two countries after a decade-long deadlock due to political tension.

"Cricket means everything in the sub-continent. It has built bridges and has averted wars on several occasions. People love and worship cricket, so it would be a great loss if cricket is halted. I hope it isn't," added Akram.

India had been scheduled to play three Tests, five one-day internationals and a Twenty20 match during a five-week tour from January 4 to February 19.

Due to the terror attacks, England cut short their tour of India after five ODIs. It is uncertain whether they will return for the two-Test series scheduled to begin on December 11 in Ahmedabad. The attacks also forced the postponement of the inaugural Champions Twenty20 League, which was scheduled from December 3.

Pakistan have also suffered from teams putting off tours to the country citing security concerns. Australia postponed their tour earlier this year and the Champions Trophy was also shifted from September 2008 to October 2009. Pakistan have not played a Test since December 2007 and there are security-related doubts over the upcoming home series against India in January.
