Indian stocks end higher on widespread buying
New Delhi - Indian stock markets ended the day higher on Monday, with the benchmark Sensex gaining over 3 per cent on its previous close.
The 30-share sensitive Sensex index of the Bombay Stock Exchange gained 283.03 or 3.04 per cent to finish the day's trading at 9,583.89.
The broader 50-share Nifty of the National Stock Exchange moved up 2.7 per cent to close at 2,919.9.
The stock markets gained momentum late afternoon as funds and investors bought shares, especially in the metal, consumer durables, energy and banking sectors.(dpa)
