Innsbruck signs Winter Youth Olympics host contract Innsbruck, Austria - Olympic supremo Jacques Rogge and Austrian officials on Thursday signed the host city contract for Innsbruck to stage the inaugural Winter Youth Olympics.

The document was signed at Innsbruck's twon hall during a two-day visit of Rogge and other International Olympic Committee members.

The IOC delegation - which included the newly-appointed 2012 coordination committee head Gian Franco Kasper, who is also world ski federation supremo - toured venues and met with Austrian officials and local students.

"We are glad to be back in Innsbruck where the extraordinary 1964 and 1976 Olympic Winter Games were staged", the IOC quoted Rogge as saying in a press release.

The Youth Olympics are Rogge's brainchild and will be held for the first time 2010 in Singapore. Innsbruck host the first winter edition in which 14-18-year-old athletes compete in Olympic winter sports. (dpa)
