Jordan's king to meet Bush in Washington Wednesday

King Abdullah II of Jordan meet George W BushAmman  - King Abdullah II of Jordan is to meet US President George W Bush in Washington on Wednesday to discuss the latest developments in the Middle East, the royal court said in a statement Monday.

During the visit, which comes at Bush's invitation, the two leaders "will discuss the development of the negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians as well as latest developments in the Middle East and means of boosting bilateral ties", the statement said.

Abdullah met former US president Jimmy Carter in Amman on Sunday and urged a "tangible progress" in the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian talks. Bush has said the talks should lead to a peace agreement and the setting up of a Palestinian state before the end of 2008.

Meanwhile, Abdullah flew to Bahrain Monday for a two-day visit and talks with King Hamad Bin Issa al-Khalifa on regional developments. (dpa)
