Late snowfalls in Britain bring chaos to roads and rail
London - Late snowfalls caused traffic chaos and disrupted rail services in south-west Britain early Thursday, the authorities said.
Up to 60 motorists were stranded on roads in the south-western counties of Devon and Dorset which saw overnight snowfalls of up to 8 centimetres.
The snow caused a number of accidents but no serious injuries, police said.
Train services between London and the south coast spa of Brighton were also affected by severe weather.
Forecasters said more snow was likely to fall in Scotland in the north of Britain in a late spell of wintry weather that would also bring the threat of icy roads. (dpa)
