Lupin teams up with FOGSI

Lupin teams up with FOGSILupin, a leading pharmaceutical major has announced that it has teamed up with Federation of Obstetric and Gynaecological Socities of India (FOGSI) to roll out 'Save the Girl Child' Campaign.

According to sources, the objective of the campaign is to mobilise obstetrics and gynaecological community which will run awareness and community care programmes towards eradicating female foeticide and infanticide.

While commenting on the campaign, Mr. P Chakraborty, President of Lupin stated, “Lupin, jointly with FOGSI will seek to launch a massive outreach programmes that will target and cover communities across different stratas of society.”

Quoting United Nations's statistics, Lupin revealed that every year 7.5 lakh girl foetuses are aborted in India. The country has one of the worst rates of female infanticide across the world.

According to 1901 census, there were 972 females for every 1,000 males. This came down to 933 in 2001 census. The National Family Health Survey (NFHS) shows a further diminution to 918.
