Kanpur, Apr 29 : A major fire sparked in an illegal chemical warehouse here today gutting a kerosene shop and three houses.

According to reports, the chemical warehouse belonged to the owner of a grocery shop who had set it up illegally in the backyard of his shop.

Six fire fighting vehicles were rushed to the spot and it took them four hours to get the fire under control.

Police said the chemicals kept there caused the fire. They said that no casualties have been reported.

"The fire sparked in the grocery shop and the owner of the shop (Gupta). He had stored some chemicals in the shop. It is believed that the fire was caused due to that," said Ekhlak Ahmad, circle officer of Babupurwa police station, Kanpur. (ANI)
