The long efforts put in by West Bengal Governor Gopal Krishna Gandhi to convince Mamata Agrees To Talk With West Bengal GovtMamarta Banerjee have finally been successful but only to some extent. The future of Singur will be decided according to the treatment of Trinamool leader and the State Government to solve the issue.

The attempt made by Bengal’s Governor, have not been that successful. However, Mamata Banerjee has agreed to meet for further talks, as she replied back to the letter sent to her by Gopal Krishna Gandhi. But she has rejected his suggestion of an impartial mediator between the government and herself. She even demanded for her ‘dharna’ and the talks to proceed by the side.

To inform about their views, an 18 member delegation from the Singur dharna platform met the Governor at Kolkata’s Raj Bhavan, though the congress has remained non-committal regarding it.

“The interests of both workers and farmers need to be protected. The Centre will not interfere but both industry and agriculture are needed,” reported External Affairs Minister, Pranab Mukherjee.
