Manhattan-on-the-Med Benidorm gets Europe's tallest residence block

Madrid  -  Benidorm, the overbuilt southeastern Spanish resort already dubbed the Manhattan of the Mediterranean, is to get Europe's tallest residential tower block, local media reports said Saturday.

The 200-metre twin-tower building designed by Spanish architect Roberto Perez Guerras would contain 268 apartments on 55 storeys - 40 per cent of them already sold - and be ready in 2010.

Benidorm already has Europe's tallest hotel, 210 metres high, including its sky-scraping antenna. (dpa)
