Kokernag (J-K), Dec 18 : Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir state and candidate of People''s Democratic Party (PDP), Mufti Mohammad Sayeed has said that he is confident of returning to power in the State.

After forming the Government, he said he would get an anti-terror law passed, as the present law will not be applicable to Jammu and Kashmir.

Mufti expressed hopes to win the elections this time as their party''s performance and programmes had satisfied the expectations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

"It is upto the people to decide. There is a lot of enthusiasm in the voters. The turn out has been more in other districts where elections were held. So you accept the People Democratic Party programme and performance have been good," he said.

On Wednesday, over 63 per cent polling was recorded in the sixth phase of Assembly elections.

The seventh phase of polls will be held on December 24.

Approximately 57 per cent voters exercised their franchise in the fifth phase on Saturday. Polling took place in eleven constituencies in the districts of Kathua, Shopian and Pulwama.

An estimated 55 per cent of the 14 lakh electorate exercised their franchise in the fourth phase of polling on December 7.

Despite the call by separatists for election boycott, 64 per cent participated in the first phase. At least 65 per cent voting was recorded during the second phase of polling.

In the first four phases, the number of candidates showed a marked increase this time as compared to 2002. In the Kashmir division the number has gone up to more than double.

The results will be declared on December 28. (ANI)
