‘Munde U.K. de’, an NRI based romantic comedy movieChandigarh, April 29: The Punjabi film industry is evolving rapidly with films based on non-resident Indian proving to be a major hit. The latest in the row is `Munde U. K. de’.

It’s a romantic comedy movie about the 3rd generation Punjabis in the U. K. who come visiting Punjab.

Directed by Manmohan Singh, the ‘Munde U. K. de’s’ music was released recently here.

“In U. K., the 2nd and 3rd generation Punjabis are no longer connected with Punjab. They even don’t watch Punjabi films. They are a totally different generation, that thinks differently. I call them ‘typical Britishers’. In this film, the two characters we have taken– Jimmy Shergill and Gurpreet Ghuggi, who are born and brought up in the U. K. and come to Punjab for the first time. They have only heard about Punjab and about the people here. The film is about their experiences in Punjab,” said Manmohan Singh, Director of ‘Munde U. K de’.

The movie stars Jimmy Shergill, Amrinder Gill, Neeru Bajwa and Gurpreet Ghuggi. Besides, Amarjit Musapuria and Babu Singh Maan have written the songs for the film.

The story of the film revolves around two British born Punjabi boys who visit Punjab for the first time. They fall in love but find it very difficult to win over the girls because of their typical British attitude.

But the most interesting part of the film is about how boys from U. K. adapt themselves to Punjabi traditions and win everybody’s hearts.

The film is an attempt to depict instances of U. K. born Punjabis returning to Punjab.

“I spend much of my time on performing shows in various parts of India and abroad. But my feelings always remain in the lanes, fields and villages of Punjab. Even if I stay in Delhi or Mumbai I feel that I am living in some other part of the world,” said Jasbir Jassi, Punjabi Singer.

“Earlier, an American film ‘American Desi’ was released in which I sung a song `Ni thoo hoonai hoonai hoyee mutiar, Mundian to bach ke rahi’. The film was later on released in the Bollywood. After that hit, Mr Rose, a U. K. based film director, approached me to sing a song for his film. I have accepted his proposal and will now be singing for him,” said Labh Janjua, singer.

The movie has eight songs sung by bigwigs from Punjabi music industry and Bollywood. They include Sardool Sikander, Labh Janjua, Jasbir Jassi and Sunidhi Chauhan.

Keeping its subject, the star cast and direction in mind – `Munde U. K. de’ is expected to rock the box offices in India and abroad. (ANI)
