Agnel U-12 footballers excel
The U-12 boys' football team of Fr Agnel's Multipurpose School, Vashi finished among top four teams in the Bodyline Sports Inter-School Football Tournament. Agnel boys played five matches in the tournament and lost the semifinal to Don Bosco High School, Matunga 0-3. Advait Shinde was given the best midfielder's trophy while the boys were also given the fair play award.
Agnel's played their first match in the leagues against the B team of St Mary's High School, Bandra and won with a score of 1-0. In their second match, they defeated Hill Spring International School, Tardeo 4-0 while their third match against Campion School, Mumbai was a draw. As the Agnel's team had the highest points in their pool, they qualified for the quarterfinal in which they defeated Christ Church School, Mumbai 1-0.
However, their winning spree was halted when they lost to Don Bosco in the semifinal. John Paul, manager of the team said, "All the boys played well and I am happy that they reached the semifinal stage. They got an exposure to the methods the teams from Mumbai use. The boys also got to face different teams from all parts of Mumbai, especially those who treat football as their main sport. Our midfielder won an award and the whole team together won the best fair play award."
There were 16 tams at the tournament and each had nine players along with three substitutes.
