Renovated Delaware Park Casino expected to be ready by October 2023

Stanton, Delaware-based Delaware Park Casino & Racing, which is positioned in southwest of the Wilmington capital, is undergoing a major renovation project that will add a number of new amenities to the venue. Launched last month, the Delaware Park Casino’s renovation project has specifically been designed to overhaul its main gaming space. The ongoing renovation project will add a high-end baccarat & blackjack pit, more pod-style slot cabinet configurations, in addition to numerous new food & beverage offerings.

The owners of the venue have set aside $10 million for the renovation project, which is expected to be finished sometime this fall.

Delaware Park Casino & Racing was owned by the Rickman family for as many as forty years. In November 2021, it found new owners – Canadian private equity firm Clairvest Group and Rubico Gaming. The new owners bought the property for over $90 million.

It may be noted here that Rubico Gaming is controlled by Thomas Benninger, a former Caesars Entertainment board member who founded the private investment & advisory firm Global Leveraged Capital. The Rickman family now owns the White Clay Country Club, which was previously part of the aforementioned Delaware Park complex.

The new owners of the gambling-friendly property hired Terry Glebocki in March this year to run the venue. Glebocki is a casino veteran who formerly served Ocean Casino Resort as its chief executive officer. She played a key role in turning around the fortunes of the Atlantic City property. Now, the same is expected from Terry for the northern Delaware property.

Glebocki, who is the president & general manager of Delaware Park, said the ongoing renovation project would usher a new look as well as a promising future for Delaware Park Casino & Racing.

When asked for a comment, Glebocki said, “Our goal is to make the property more modern and comfortable for our existing guests as well as to attract new audiences, making our casino a premier destination in the region.”

She went on to say that the casino’s expanded VIP bar and added amenities would bring Las Vegas and Atlantic City a bit closer to Delaware for the casino’s regional guests. She revealed that in addition to more gaming amenities, the renovation project would bring custom chandeliers & lighting, comfortable gaming furniture, carpeting, vaulted ceilings, and attractive murals.

Currently, the gaming space of the venue features nearly 1,900 slot machines, 40 table games, and a poker room. Additionally, the property features a sportsbook.
