Nokia N97 comes packed with “Widgets”

Nokia N97 comes packed with “Widgets”Seeing the popularity of the functionality of widgets on personal computers, Nokia has come up with widgets in its latest N97 smartphone.

Nokia has packed its N97 with about 16 default widgets. Nokia N97 comes preloaded with these widgets, but the phone allows its users to download more from the Ovi Store. Some of the interesting widget applications include Facebook, Nokia Messaging, Hi5, and Ovi Share.

Nokia N97 however can have only five widgets on the main screen. The phone allows users to adjust the layout of the widgets in the home screen edit mode, and move the widgets up or down according to their choices. The 5 widgets that users can see in place include — Contacts, Application Shortcuts, Email, Weather, and Ovi Share. Of course, the users can find numerous widgets in the Ovi Store.

In computing, widgets refer to objects on a computer screen the user interacts with. Widgets are classified into Online and Offline widgets. The online widgets need internet connection for functionality, while the offline widgets can work without internet connection. The online mobile widgets help the users stay online 24×7. These widgets help to fetch emails, weather, photos, etc. on mobile phone’s homescreen automatically.
