It has been reliably learnt that Jet Airways would soon begin its flights to the West Coast via China as soon as both the governments formally agree to remove existing obstacles.

Developments in real estate, a reflection of growth: Kamal Nath

Union Commerce Minister Kamal NathNew Delhi, Jan 7: Union Commerce Minister Kamal Nath today said that the developments in the real estate sector is a reflection of the growth in the Indian economy brought about by high GDP rate and India’s integration with the global economy.

Addressing the “National Convention ‘NATCON 2008’: Real Estate for All”, Kamal Nath said: “With the economy on an upswing, the emphasis and requirement today is on creating international standard infrastructure and housing facility to sustain the growth rate projected in the 11th Five Year Plan.”

SEZs will not be thrust upon Goa: Kamal Nath

Union Minister Kamal NathNew Delhi, Jan 3 : Union Commerce Minister Kamal Nath today assured Goa Chief Minister Digambar Kamat that the Centre would not thrust any Special Economic Zones (SEZ) in the state and all SEZs in the state including the notified ones will be reviewed.

"The Central Government does not want to thrust upon any state SEZ which is not conducive," Nath told reporters here.

Talking about the three notified SEZs, he said: "There is absolute provision in the (SEZ) Act for everything."

Booming healthcare sector needs PPP model, says Kamal Nath

New Delhi, Nov 14 : Union Commerce Minister Kamal Nath on Wednesday said that the healthcare revolution is waiting to happen in the country, and called for developing new infrastructure in the sector on a public-private partnership (PPP) basis.

"India is not short of funds with many global investors waiting to invest in the country. What is needed is a platform or a forum to streamline these investments, " Nath said, and urged the Services Export Promotion Council (SEPC) to initiate an interface with the government to work out a PPP partnership model to fund healthcare infrastructure.

Asia-Pacific countries aim to widen trade ties: Kamal Nath

Goa, Oct 27 : Commerce and Trade Minister Kamal Nath has said that the launch of the fourth round of tariff negotiations would deepen and widen trade ties among participating countries.

"We'll be expanding the content of this agreement. We have also decided to explore the options to widen the scope of this agreement not only of goods, but to non-tariff measures, services and investments," Kamal said at the second ministerial meeting of Asia-Pacific countries, which concluded on Friday.
