''Bharatvanshi'' true description of PIOs: Advani

New Delhi, Jan. 11 : Leader of the Opposition in Parliament and senior Bharatiya Janata Party Leader Lal Krishna Advani on Sunday said that Persons of Indian Origin
(PIOs), Non-resident Indians (NRIs) and those residing in the country will have to work together to make India a front-line nation in the 21st century.

Speaking at a ceremony held to mark the 30th anniversary of Antar-Rashtriya Sahyog Parishad, a non-governmental organization, in the national capital, Advani said that the people with roots in India should be called ''Bharatvanshi'' (descendants of King Bharat) in place of People of Indian Origin.

Mishra died in Bangalore on Friday night.

Spain Deputy Prime Minister meets Advani

New Delhi, Jan 5 : Deputy Prime Minister of Spain, Maria Teresa Fernandez de la Vega, on her first visit to India, met senior BJP leader L. K Advani here today.

Fernandez de la Vega''s visit to India is seen as an attempt to further strengthen diplomatic and trade relations between India and Spain.

Spain, a key member state of the European Union (EU) had formulated a special plan titled "Plan India", focusing on the increasing trade and energy cooperation particularly in wind energy with India initially.

Spain has shown keen interest in defence co-operation with India.

Trade between India and Spain is growing and has more than quadrupled from 900 million dollars in 2000 to 3985 million dollars in 2007.

Pakistan may act after international pressure, says Advani

Ahmedabad, Jan. 4 : Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Lal Krishna Advani has said that India has given enough evidences against Pakistan and international pressure would definitely make Paksitan act.

"Pakistan has come in the limelight for the entire world. There is no doubt about the fact that perpetrators came from Pakistan and India has given enough evidences to the entire world. India has told everything to the world. Now the Home Minister is going there (US) and I hope that entire world would put pressure as a result of which Pakistan would accept the truth and take appropriate action," said Advani while interacting with media here.

Advani calls PM in the wake of firings in Mumbai

L K AdvaniLeader of the Opposition L K Advani spoke to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Wednesday night after the terrorist attack in Mumbai. The PM confirmed him that terrorists had attacked at five places in which at least 18 people were killed and 25 injured.

Advani called up Singh twice to find out details of the terror strikes in Mumbai.

The Prime Minister told Advani that incidents, including a bomb blast and firing, had taken place at five places across the commercial capital and 18 people had died while 25 had been injured in these attacks.
