Prince Charles’ wedding might be ‘illegal’London, November 10 : The legality of Prince Charles’ wedding to Camilla Parker Bowles has come into question after constitutional experts revealed that civil weddings were banned for the royal family.

The Whitehall papers suggest that the Marriage Act of 1836 banned the royal family from civil weddings.

“Nothing in this Act shall affect any law or custom relating to the marriage of members of the Royal Family,” the Daily Express quoted a 1949 follow-up Act, which continued the prohibition, as stating.

Prince Charles urges building low-carbon society on Japan visit

Tokyo  - Britain's Prince Charles on Tuesday called for concerted efforts to build a low-carbon society to combat global warming while on a visit to Japan.

"We must not abandon the drive towards a low-carbon economy," the prince of Wales said in a speech marking the 150th anniversary of bilateral relations between Japan and Britain.

He arrived in Tokyo late Monday with his wife, Camilla, for a five-day visit.

The prince called climate change "the biggest challenge our planet has ever seen."

He said that even as the world now faces a financial crisis, it should not divert attention and efforts from protecting the earth.

London, Oct 25 : Once touted as the Prince''s new Poundbury, Prince Charles’ dream "Urban Village in St Austell" has now turned into a living hell for residents annoyed by drunk teenagers.

Urban Village, envisioned and partially designed by Prince Charles, was designed to be Britain''s first village in a town setting.

The 147-property village boasts its faux Victorian houses, man-made pond, and stream.

It promised streets "designed for people rather than cars", and homeowners were encouraged to start their own cottage businesses and create a real community, which was quickly nicknamed "Charlietown Two".

Prince Charles and Camilla to visit Japan, Brunei in late October

Prince Charles, CamillaLondon - Britain's Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, will make an official visit to Japan and Brunei at the end of October, the royal palace in London said Tuesday.

However, the Duchess, 61, would miss the final leg of the tour to Indonesia due to the extreme heat in the country at that time, a Clarence House spokesman said.

The four-day tour of Japan, from October 27, is to mark the 150th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Britain.
