Rahul Gandhi to kick off Orissa tour from today

New Delhi, Mar 6: Congress General Secretary and MP Rahul GandhiCongress General Secretary and MP Rahul Gandhi will undertake a four-day trip to Orissa from today.

According to a Congress party release, Rahul is undertaking the tour “to reach out to and begin a conversation with the people from a cross-section of Orissa’s society.”

The tour will cover several districts of the state, and will include interactions “with youths, students, tribals, farmers and party workers”, focusing on issues such as education and employment.

Rahul suggests reforms in the implementation of NREGA

New Delhi, Feb 28: Rahul GandhiCongress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi along with other young Members of Parliament including Jyothiraditya Scindia, Jitin Prasada, Milind Deora and Sandeep Dikshit met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today to discuss measures for implementation of the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act(NREGA).

Gandhi told reporters that they had suggested a centralized monitoring mechanism and better tie-ups between states for effective implementation of the scheme.

Rahul Gandhi to arrive in Amethi today

Amethi, Feb 16: Congress General Secretary and MP Rahul GandhiCongress General Secretary and MP Rahul Gandhi will arrive here on a day-long visit today.

During his visit, he will attend a meeting of the district monitoring committee in Sultanpur to review the work done by the district development committee.

Before leaving for Delhi, Rahul will also visit Dulapur and Majre Dighagopalpur villages and meet victims of the fire that took place there. (ANI)

Rahul Gandhi to arrive in Amethi today

Amethi, Jan 26: AICC General Secretary Rahul GandhiAICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi will arrive here today on a three-day visit to take stock of several development schemes.

During his visit, he will take stock of the implementation of National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS).

The NREGS provides a legal guarantee for hundred days of employment in every financial year to adult members of any rural household willing to do unskilled manual work at the statutory minimum wage.

Besides reviewing projects, he will visit Salon and Tiloi areas.

Recalling the words of Late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, Rahul said, "My father used to say that only 15 Paisa out of the Rupee reaches people, after the seeing the situation here I feel that not even five Paisa of a Rupee is reaching the people."

He expressed his anguish over the poor state of implementation of the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA) scheme in the region.

Amethi, Dec 17: Congress General Secretary Rahul GandhiCongress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi will attend the concluding function of the ongoing training camp of Nyay Panchayat chairmen at Jagdishpur today.

This will be the Congress MP fourth visit to his constituency this month.

Soon after his arrival at the Fursatganj airport, Rahul will proceed to Jagdishpur to participate in the function.

A ten-day training camp of the party's Nyay Panchayat members was inaugurated by Rahul during his last visit here.

Rahul Gandhi to kick-off another road show in Gujarat

Vadodra, Dec 14: Congress MP Rahul GandhiCongress MP from Amethi, Rahul Gandhi, will kick-off his second leg of road show for the second phase of Gujarat Assembly elections here today.

Rahul will conduct a road show in Vadodara as the campaigning will come to an end today.

During his road show, Rahul will address three public meetings in three assembly constituencies.

Earlier, Rahul had a road show in Surat where he urged the voters not to get carried away by "lies of the BJP Government in the State" and said that he has come to talk about future and not the past.

Rahul Gandhi focuses on basic flaws of Congress in UP

Lucknow, Nov 12 : Rahul Gandhi has been to Lucknow several times earlier, but he never attracted such attention as he received today, since it was for the first time that the Congress MP from Amethi attended the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee meeting after becoming the general secretary of his party in September.

With his role being to initiate corrective steps for the revival of the Congress party in the State, Rahul today said that the big issue for the party in the State is that it has not been able to attract youth.

Rahul, who is seen as the youth icon for the party, today focussed on basic administration and management of the party affairs, and also admitted that there are basic flaws in the State unit of the party .

Rahul Gandhi attends Congress Working Committee meeting

New Delhi, Nov 8 : Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi attended the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting for the first time on Wednesday evening.

Rahul reportedly put forth suggestions before the CWC, but the party spokesman did not elaborate on what he said.

"Of course suggestions have been made and they will be considered at an appropriate time," said Veerappa Moily, a CWC member.

Besides Rahul, two other new members Prithviraj Chavan and Kishore Chandra Deo also attended the meeting.

Rahul, the Lok Sabha MP from Amethi, was nominated as one of the Congress party’s general secretaries in September.

But Rahul is not likely to assume duties at once because he is going to New York with his mother. Sonia Gandhi will lecture the UN General Assembly on October 2, to honor the International Day of Non-Violence.

The is elected Member of Parliament from Amethi. Many senior Congress leaders were recommending the name for Rahul for General Secretary. The congress party has failed in many states in recent elections.

The party leaders support Rahul Gandhi to be potential prime minister. As there is a possibility of mid-term elections, AICC is ready for many organizational changes.
