President Yadav reiterates need for unity, communal harmony in Nepal

Kathmandu, Oct 5 : Nepal President Dr Ram Baran YadavNepal President Dr Ram Baran Yadav has reiterated the need to bolster national unity and communal harmony for peace and prosperity in the country.

Addressing a mass gathering following a concert programmes organised by Republicans Artistes Forum at Dashrath Stadium here on Saturday, Dr. Yadav called for political unity and cooperation in order to sustain peace and democracy.

He said that Nepal could become a rich country if the resources available here were utilised and distributed in a scientific manner.

Nepal Govt. to announce 84-point programme today

NepalKathmandu, Sept 10 : The Nepal Government will announce its policies and programmes at the parliamentary session of the Constituent Assembly (CA) today.

President Dr Ram Baran Yadav will present the government''s policies and programmes.

The document was finalized on Tuesday after all six allies of the ruling alliance agreed on the government''s Common Minimum Programme (CMP).

The 84-point document of the government policies and programmes includes bringing the peace process to a logical end, writing a new democratic constitution within next two years and operating relief programmes for the Koshi flood victims.

Nepali Congress to stay in opposition

Nepali Congress to stay in oppositionKathmandu, Aug. 13 : Nepali Congress (NC), the second largest party in the Constituent Assembly (CA), has decided to stay in opposition.

On Wednesday, top NC leaders took the decision to stay in opposition, eKantipur reported.

According to NC central leader Laxman Ghimire, the NC will register its nomination for the Prime Minister to ensure the party''s presence at the parliament, even if there is a chance of losing.

Sources report that the NC will nominate party vice-president Ram Chandra Poudel for the Prime Minister''s post.

Nepalese president asks assembly to form government

Dr Ram Baran YadavKathmandu- Nepalese President Ram Baran Yadav on Sunday asked the country's constituent assembly to make efforts to form a new government.

The presidential orders came after the Maoists missed a deadline given to them to form a government by Saturday.

The president asked the assembly to elect a prime minister on the basis of majority who in turn will form a new government.

The new development means that any party that can muster the support of majority of the members in the 601-member assembly, can stake its claim to form the government.

NC, UML discuss Govt. formation excluding Maoists

Dr Ram Baran YadavKathmandu, Aug 7 : Nepali Congress (NC) Vice President Ram Chandra Poudel met CPN-UML General Secretary Jahalanath Khanal today to meet the deadline given by President Dr. Ram Baram Yadav to form a consensual Government in Nepal.

During the meeting, the two leaders discussed that if the CPN-Maoist cannot form a government with Nepal national consensus, the NC and the UML will try to make a government without the Maoists.

Khanal said that if such condition comes, the new government must be led by the UML.
