The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which released its election manifesto on the occasion of Ram Navmi on Friday, pledged to work for the purpose of bringing in 'Ram Rajya' in the country. Unveiling the party manifesto, which included the Ram Temple issue, the BJP prime ministerial candidate, L. K. Advani, said: "Ram Rajya is possible."

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) politicians led by Lal Krishna Advani, the party's prime ministerial candidate, unveiled the document in New Delhi on a day Hindus mark as "Ram Navmi," or the birth anniversary of the god Ram.

For Below Poverty Line (BPL) families, the party has promised to give 35 kg rice per month at Rs two per kg and wheat at Rs 3.5 per kg. This is seen as a counter to the Congress, which has promised to offer rice at Rs three per kg.

There is also a promise to provide a bicycle to school-going girls in BPL families.

Varun being harassed, tortured in jail: BJPEtah, Apr 2 : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu on Thursday alleged that Varun Gandhi had been harassed and tortured in the jail.

"Varun Gandhi was kept in a small cell, where he could not see anyone. Inhuman treatment was meted out to him. He was harassed and tortured," Naidu told reporters after meeting Varun in Etah District jail here.

The BJP leader claimed that Varun was implicated under a conspiracy of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and the Congress.
