Alliance begins work on portfolio division in NepalKathmandu, Aug 16 : The three major parties in the ruling alliance including the CPN (Maoist), the CPN (UML) and the Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (MJF) are meeting today to decide division of portfolio in the new government lead by Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal alias ''Prachanda'' in Nepal.

A three-member team has been entrusted to finalise the ministerial portfolios for each party and the Common Minimum Programme (CMP) of the new government.

Nepalese political parties gear up for talks on govt. formation

cpm(uml)Kathmandu, August 13 : With only two days to go for Nepal’s Prime Minister election by the Constituent Assembly (CA), all major political parties have stepped up their internal consultations in a bid to form a post-election government.

The major political parties of Nepal including the Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist (CPN-M), Nepali Congress (NC) and Communist Party of Nepal-Unified Marxist-Leninist
(CPN-UML) intensified talks as the filing of nominations for the Prime Ministerial candidates at the Constituent Assembly is scheduled for Thursday.

Maoists to form Government in Nepal

cpm(uml)Kathmandu, Aug 1 : The CPN-Maoist today decided to form a new Government based on Nepal national consensus under its leadership with common minimum programmes.

The meeting of the Maoist Central Committee (CC) that concluded here today took the official decision to lead the next Government.

Talking to media after the meeting, party spokesperson Krishna Bahadur Mahara said that the party would make efforts to form a Government of Nepal national consensus.

Nepal parties approve Koirala attending SAARC Summit

cpm(uml)Kathmandu, July 30 : The CPN-Maoist and the CPN-UML today agreed on the 35-member Nepali delegation team led by caretaker Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala to attend the 15th South Asian Association Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Summit on August 2.

During the meeting of top leaders of the four parties including the Nepali Congress (NC), the UML, the Maoists and the Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (MJF), it was agreed to let Prime Minister Koirala to head the 35-member strong Nepali delegation.

Nepal parties advise Maoists to take initiative to lead new Government

NepalKathmandu, July 28 : Nepal political parties represented in the Constituent Assembly (CA) today advised the CPN (Maoist) to take initiative for the formation of a unity Government in Nepal.

At the all-party meeting here, the parties suggested that Maoist being the largest party in the Constituent Assembly should try to garner consensus to lead the next Government.

During the meeting organised by Maoists mainly to discuss the formation of new government, the issue of Nepal''s participation in the SAARC summit and the episode of Vice President taking oath in Hindi also cropped up.
