Dahal urges Nepal to search “inclusive personality” for president

cpm(uml)Kathmandu, July 16 : In a bid to find a common candidate for the presidential post, Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist (CPN-M) Chairman Puspa Kamal Dahal on Wednesday urged the former Communist Party of Nepal-Unified Marxist-Leninist (CPN-UML) General Secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal to search for an “inclusive personality” for the presidential post.

The meeting took place at Nepal’s residence in Koteshwor.

The Maoist Chairman’s meeting with Nepal took place at a time when the parties are having differences over appointment of the president and the UML proposing Nepal as the first president of newest republican country.

According to Kantipur, on the occasion, Nepal stressed on the need to move ahead with consensus though he did not give a clear-cut answer.

The largest party in the Constituent Assembly (CA), CPN-Maoist, has been turning deaf ear to the UML proposal to nominate Nepal as the president.

Meanwhile, addressing a programme in Kathmandu today, Maoist chairman Dahal informed that they have not finalised the candidate to hold the post of president in the Maoist-led government even after the rounds of close parleys with the UML.

Chairman Dahal, however, reiterated that the name of the president will be finalised by Thursday morning.

Dahal assured that the date, which is slated for Saturday, to elect the president, vice-president will not be cancelled at any cost. (ANI)
