Rahman Returns to a Warm Welcome from his Fans

A.R. RahmanHaving won the coveted Golden Globe award for Best Original Music Score for 'Slumdog Millionaire', music maestro A. R. Rahman returned home in the early hours today to a stirring welcome of his fans and well wishers as thousands thronged the Chennai Airport to welcome their God of music and filled the air with the music of traditional drumbeats and applause.

Rahman too seemed to be very pleased with this feat of his.

"This is the first time that an Indian has got the award, so I am very happy. This is a victory for the people of India. I did not have any goal in my mind as such, but I took everyday as a challenge and I did it," he said.

Rahman, 43, has rendered his genius in music to many Hindi films till date. Some prominent ones being: "Bombay", "Dil Se", "Taal" and "Guru". Rahman also earned global acclaim for his music in Andrew Llyod Webber's musical "Bombay Dreams" and the theatre production for "The Lord of the Rings".
