Dhabi, 11th Nov. 2008 -- The UAE takes great interest in the issue of human security and looks forward to the ideas and discussions that lie ahead on the relationship between human security and women, Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, President of Arab Women's Organisation (AWO), said today.

''Human security is one of the newest concepts used with regards to the principles of freedom, security and development. It is an evolving concept that focuses on transforming those principles into commitments and applicable mechanisms,'' Sheikha Fatima, also Chairwoman of the UAE General Women's Union (GWU) and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF), told the opening session of the 2nd Conference of the Arab Women's Organisation.

Dhabi, Nov 11th, 2008 - Queen Rania Abdullah of Jordan, said the features of Arab world changed so much over the last 8 years, and especially after the launching of the Arab Women Organisation in 2003. "We are more educated and more determined to achieve and progress in line with creating active Arab community with women and men on equal footing".

Thanking Sheikha Fatima for hosting the conference, First Lady of Jordan highlighted that Jordan became early aware about significance of education, as private sector was involved in promoting of education and creating healthy and secure environment for education.

Abu Dhabi, 11th Nov. 2008  -- Arab First Ladies called today for greater empowerment of women in the Arab World so as to play their vested role in serving and building their countries and communities on equal footing with their male partners and communicating with other peace-loving nations for the sake of maintaining and bolstering human security collectively.

They stressed the need for promoting Arab-Arab and Arab-international dialogue cooperation for the service of human security causes.
