Australia provides humanitarian assistance to southern Philippines

Manila - Australia announced Monday a 12-million-peso (255,863-US dollar) grant of humanitarian assistance to thousands of people affected by fighting between Muslim separatist rebels and the military in the southern Philippines.

Australian Ambassador to the Philippines Rod Smith said the fund would help address the needs of people "uprooted from their homes and separated from their means of livelihood" because of the ongoing conflict in the southern region of Mindanao.

"Assistance will include essential items like water and sanitation facilities, food and counseling services in evacuation centers," he said.

“It was feared that Australian tour to India would also be postponed after the blasts or at least Australian cricketers would express some security concerns. But, nothing such happened and Cricket Australia decided to go ahead with the tour setting aside any affect of recent blasts,” said the article.

The 49-year-old, who first got married at the age of 26, admittedly remembers only nine of his previous brides.

Whilst his first wife, and later, many others, ran off with her lover, Katuwal from then on led a life of succeeding failed marriages covering an incredible span of more than two decades.

"My second wife also ran away," The Daily Telegraph quoted him saying, "and the third one too."

"(Like other ex-wives) the 24th one also ran away. And I decided not to marry again," he added.
