Innsbruck signs Winter Youth Olympics host contract Innsbruck, Austria - Olympic supremo Jacques Rogge and Austrian officials on Thursday signed the host city contract for Innsbruck to stage the inaugural Winter Youth Olympics.

The document was signed at Innsbruck's twon hall during a two-day visit of Rogge and other International Olympic Committee members.

The IOC delegation - which included the newly-appointed 2012 coordination committee head Gian Franco Kasper, who is also world ski federation supremo - toured venues and met with Austrian officials and local students.

Vienna Jewish community calls for suspension of anti-Israeli imam

Austria MapVienna - Vienna's Jewish community on Thursday called for the suspension of a local Islamic preacher who has called Israel a "beast" for its military actions in Gaza.

"If a rabbi talked like that in a house of the Jewish community, he would lose his job within a second," community chairman Ariel Muzicant told national broadcaster ORF.

Imam Adnan Ibrahim said in a sermon on January 9 that "Israel is the real beast, Israel is the criminal," according to a report by the newspaper Der Standard.

OPEC oil price down to 40 dollarsVienna - The price for oil produced by the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) fell slightly on Tuesday, to 40 dollars, OPEC said on Wednesday.

One barrel (159 litres) of OPEC-produced crude was 0.24 dollars lower than on the previous day.

The Vienna-based cartel could decide on further production cuts at its next meeting in March to support prices, OPEC Secretary General Abdalla Salem el-Badri indicated Tuesday.

Vienna theatre to stage show on Fritzl case

Vienna  - A Vienna theatre artist announced details Monday of an upcoming production centred on the case of Josef Fritzl, the Austrian who imprisoned and raped his daughter over 24 years.

Hubsi Kramar said he wanted to offer a satirical critique of Austrian society in the piece, calling it a "cellar soap opera" and showing "everything you ever wanted to know about the Fritzls."

"You can't go any lower," Kramar said on his homepage of the satirical play entitled Guesthouse Fritzl, which will run in Vienna's 3raum-anatomietheater from February 23, .

Schlierenzauer flies to victory again in Bad Mitterndorf

Bad Mitterndorf, Austria  - Gregor Schlierenzauer soared past all rivals again on Sunday to get his second ski-flying triumph within 24 hours in front of a delighted Austrian home crowd.

Schlierenzauer, who turned 19 on Wednesday, did not match his hill record 215.5 metres from Saturday, but led each round with 203.5m and 202m for victory with 393.6 points.

It was his fourth season win, the fifth in a row on a flying hill for the ski-flying world champion and his 15th overall.

Harri Olli was the only other jumper beyond 200m on the day, the Finn placing second with 390.4 points from jumps of 201.5m and 200.5m. World Cup leader Simon Ammann of Switzerland was third with 197.5m and 198.5m for 382.2 points.
