New Delhi, Mar 8 : Bollywood director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra''s ''Rang De Basanti'' will be screened at the ongoing SAARC Film Festival in Abu Dhabi.
Another major attraction of the festival is the Pakistani film ''Khuda Ke Liye'', which will be also screened. The film features Indian actor Naseeruddin Shah in a cameo as a Muslim scholar clarifying the tenets of Islam during a court case.
A film from Bangladesh - AHA, Caravan from Nepal and Sri Lankan movie Nisalgira and Samanala Thatu will be featured at the festival. All the movies will be subtitled in English and Arabic.
Dhaka - A section of Bangladesh's paramilitary border troops involved in last week's mutiny at their headquarters and killings of their commanders may face courts martial, a minister said Saturday.
"If needed, they will be tried in courts martial under the army rules," the Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Shafiq Ahmed told reporters in Dhaka while briefing on progress into the process of mutineers' trials.
Dhaka - Authorities in Bangladesh Friday beefed up security at the parliament building and its premises following last week's troop mutiny in central Dhaka that left 71 people, including scores of military officers, dead.
"We have also asked the security agencies to improve the entire security system for parliament," Abdus Shahid, the chief whip of Bangladesh parliament told Deutsche Presse-Agentur dpa after a special meeting with the top security officials.
Dhaka - The Bangladesh parliament Thursday unanimously approved separate motions for regaining memberships of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) and International Parliamentary Union (IPU), officials said.
Approving the motions in the House, lawmakers from both sides of the political divide said the country, which returned to democratic system two months ago ending two years rule of a military-backed government, needed a sustainable parliamentary democracy for the greater interests of its people.
Dhaka - Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Thursday postponed the tour of Pakistan cricket team for an indefinite period by government advice over security concerns, officials said.
"We have decided to postpone the tour following advice from the home affairs ministry," Jalal Yunus, the spokesman of the BCB, said without elaborating the present security situation.
Dhaka - Bangladesh's government on Thursday described last week's mutiny at the headquarters of its border guards as a plot against the nascent democracy of the South Asian country.
"It was a big conspiracy against democracy," Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wazed said. "It is presumed initially that the mutiny was staged to put the democratically elected government in danger and cause embarrassment for it."
